Easy Maple Syrup Coated Pecans Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon butter (or animal fat like lard, if you prefer a more historically accurate option)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven
    Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Prepare the Pecans
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the pecan halves with the maple syrup, butter (or animal fat), and salt. Stir to coat the pecans evenly with the syrup mixture.
  3. Spread on a Baking Sheet
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup. Spread the coated pecans in a single layer on the sheet.
  4. Roast the Pecans
Place the pecans in the preheated oven and roast for about 15-20 minutes, stirring every 5-7 minutes to ensure they toast evenly and don’t burn. Keep a close eye on them, as nuts can quickly go from perfectly roasted to overdone.
  5. Cool and Serve
Once the pecans are golden brown and fragrant, remove them from the oven. Let them cool completely on the baking sheet—they will crisp up as they cool.
  6. Enjoy
